How do I book an appointment?
Book online 24/7 through our secure booking system, or call us at (847) 550-1230. Online booking shows real-time availability for every service.
Where are you located?
Red Cottage Salon & Spa is at 3974 Route 22 in Long Grove, IL 60047, just west of Old McHenry Road. We welcome guests from Long Grove, Buffalo Grove, Lake Zurich, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods, Mundelein and nearby.
What are your hours?
Tuesday 9 am–7 pm, Wednesday 9 am–6 pm, Thursday 9 am–8 pm, Friday 9 am–5 pm, Saturday 8:30 am–4 pm and Sunday 9 am–3 pm. We are closed on Mondays.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. Color, haircut and skincare consultations are complimentary — book them online like any other service.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule — there is no fee. With less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you do not arrive, 50% of the appointment cost is charged. Online bookings require a $25 deposit. See our full booking policy, or call the salon if your plans change.

What is the difference between balayage and highlights?
Balayage is painted by hand for a soft, natural, sun-kissed blend that grows out gently. Foil highlights are placed in sections for brighter, more uniform lightness from root to end. Many guests choose a combination — your colorist will recommend what suits your hair.
Do you cut children’s and men’s hair?
Yes. Red Cottage welcomes women, men and children. Children’s haircuts are $40 and men’s haircuts $50–$60, depending on the stylist.
Which is better — Brazilian Blowout or keratin smoothing?
Both reduce frizz and make hair easier to style. The best choice depends on your hair texture, how much smoothing you want and your routine. Read our guide or ask for a free consultation and your stylist will recommend the right one.
Which facial should I book?
If you are unsure, book the complimentary skincare consultation or a Custom Facial — your esthetician will tailor it to your skin. For a first visit with limited time, the 30-minute Organic Treat Facial is a lovely introduction.
Do you offer prenatal massage?
Yes, prenatal massage is available in 60 and 90-minute sessions. If you have any pregnancy complications, please check with your doctor before booking.
What is the difference between No-Chip and structured gel?
No-Chip is a gel polish that lasts longer than regular polish without chipping. A structured gel manicure adds a strengthening gel layer that supports the natural nail, which is great if your nails bend or break easily.
How long should my hair be for waxing?
About a quarter of an inch (roughly two to three weeks of growth) works best for most areas.
How often do lash extensions need a fill?
Most guests book a fill every two to three weeks, depending on their natural lash cycle and aftercare.
How early should I book for a wedding?
As early as possible, especially for Saturdays. Contact us with your date, number of people and timing so we can plan your morning.
Does electrolysis hurt?
Most guests describe a brief warm or stinging sensation. Your esthetician adjusts the treatment to keep you comfortable.
Who should not have pressotherapy?
Please consult your doctor first if you are pregnant or have circulation, heart, vein or other medical conditions.
